Following the departure of companions Amy and Rory Pond, the Doctor will reportedly begin to despise his current style as it reminds him too much of the Ponds.

The vest is sexy but if this is true, I’m kind of upset. I mean, the Doctor’s style is iconic in a way. Like when the Tenth Doctor got a second outfit, it still had to have the same style - the same silhouette, because the outfit is a part of who he is. I respect that the show changes and evolves through time, but I’m having difficulty with this one, simply for the fact that keeping the Doctor in his one outfit is tradition. I am all for switching things up (Ten in a tux, for example), but each Doctor has one outfit that is his

The Doctor has lost so much, and he has never changed his style before now.

I don’t know, it just seems like Moffat is looking for some other way to make the show ~his own~ and has decided that bowties are no longer cool or something.

HEY, FANDOM, I GET WHAT YOU’RE SAYING AND YES IT’S SAD AND EMOTIONAL THAT THE PONDS ARE LEAVING AND THAT THE DOCTOR IS CHANGING HIS OUTFIT FOR THIS REASON AND I’M GOING TO LET YOU FINISH BUT….

I’d say ^THAT^ was a way more intense change than a different jacket and a waistcoat/vest.

Basically, this is hardly the first time the Doctor has changed his outfit, usually in his last season as that particular incarnation. (yes, everyone, Matt Smith will eventually leave the show) In fact, Matt’s change isn’t really that big when you think about it. The red bowtie and button down remain. He’s still wearing a brown coat/jacket, it’s just a bit longer and heavier. (Baker wore a different coat practically every week!) The suspenders are probably still there under the waistcoat/vest. The hair is the same. The color palette is the same. I mean, in terms of visual differences and silhouette, Ten’s blue suit was actually a more striking change. (HUGE shift in palette and it fit him much more tightly)

I understand that everyone is having FEELS about the Ponds leaving and things changing on the show, and I am too….but the fact remains that this is just part of the show. That’s how it goes. Companions leave, costumes change, the Doctor moves on and has adventures for fifty more years. I know people like to feel as though the Doctor had something with the Ponds that he never had with anyone else, that they were different, that this was the most important thing that ever happened to him….but guys, all of his companions are basically equal in the grand scheme of things, remember.

I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND WHERE YOU’RE ALL COMING FROM. Change on this show is hard as hell. We all get very attached, especially those who happen to be new fans, but I think we have to take a step back and remember that THIS IS DOCTOR WHO and he will always be getting new companions and regenerating because that is basically what the show is about.

I’m kind of off-topic now….but basically….I’m just really hoping that the fandom doesn’t go to hell (for too long anyway) with all of its feels after the Ponds leave. D: I really really really don’t want to face another situation like when David left.

(This is a bit of a long story, but it goes to show that you can’t ever really stop liking Harry Potter.)The first movie came out when I was 10. I watched it and fell in love with it, then my grandmother let me borrow the first three books. Right before I moved out of state, she bought me the forth book, which was one of the very few presents she ever gave me, so I cherished it. I lived with my dad for a short while (after him not being in my life for the first ten years of it), during which time I found out that he was very religious and thought I’d grow up to be a devil worshipper or something if I read Harry Potter. Before I went to bed one night, he told me to hand over my book and follow him to the kitchen, where he threw it in the trash right in front of me. I stopped reading them that instant, never fully understanding his reason for making me stop. Later I went back to live with my mom, whose new husband encouraged me to read the books and bought me the first four plus the rest of them the on day they were each released. Whenever I glanced at them sitting on my shelf, I always thought, “I’ll read them some day, when I’m not scared anymore.” Up until about a year ago, I was afraid that if I even attempted to read them again, my dad would somehow know and make me feel bad about it or feel like I was doing something wrong. But now I’m an adult and realize that he doesn’t have to know every single detail of my life. I have just recently started reading the Deathly Hallows, after catching up with the books that preceded it, and with every page I read I feel a bit rebellious, which makes it even more enjoyable. I loved the Harry Potter series from the very first moment I discovered it, and now love it more than ever.

What inspires me? Ummm. Honestly, I think people who live their life as kind of a good example to others. I don’t really like preachy or dogmatic people, or people who try to tell other people how to behave or how to live. But I do get inspired by people who really live the example that they’re trying to send. (misha collins)
